Jakob Martin Strid is one of Denmark’s most beloved children’s book authors and illustrators. His quirky humour, imaginative stories and distinctive illustrations invite children and adults alike into worlds full of whimsy and adventure.

Meet Little Panda and Little Tiger in their cosy, funny universe, join Mumbo Jumbo, Mimbo Jimbo and friends on a journey towards Siberia, or hop aboard the giant pear with Mitcho and Sebastian. And if you haven’t read The Fantastic Bus yet, a magnificent journey into the unknown awaits.

Strid’s books promise cosy reading, plenty of laughs and shared moments for the whole family.

Step inside six-year-old Willem's room, where tones of green, red and white set the tone and there’s always something being made. Willem loves to draw monsters, build a new LEGO creation and reading.

His mother grew up in Germany, and a couple of treasures from her childhood home have found their way into the room: A poster from her own walls and a wooden bird hanging from the ceiling. Next to Willem's drawings and builds, they bring a bit of family history into a room that is very much his own.

Come and see how the colours, the stories and the old favourites come together.

IKEA's 'Trofast' elements have been turned into a desk that fills the entire back wall. It is painted in colour "Picture Gallery Red" from Farrow & Ball. Two Kevi chairs allow for Willem and a sibling, a friend or a parent to join him playing and drawing here.

Seen on the table: A knitted apple, and a small enamel bowl. On the floor lies a green balance board next to a soft playmat in colour rust (available in store).

The amazing book 'Den Fantastiske Bus' written by Jakob Martin Strid.

Jakob Martin Strid spent 15 years writing and drawing the illustrations for this book. It won the Nordic Council Children and Young People’s Literature Prize in 2024.

A pinboard hangs above Willem's bed, and is filled with pictures, postcards, a calendar and a knitted flag garland.

'Lille Panda møder Lille Tiger' by Jakob Martin Strid is placed on the desk of drawers next to a mint green mushroom lamp, vintage boxes and a magical moon card.

Above the drawer hangs the poster 'Paul on A Donkey' - a print of Picasso's famous oil painting. This poster used to hang in Willem's mother's childhood room, and reminds her of her upbringing in her native Germany.

Colourful, wooden toys; a couple of books including Strid's 'Den Fantastiske Bus' and toy cars fill the shelvings.

On the wall hangs a poster from 'Radionauterne og den mystiske morgen' – a theatre show airing on Nørrebro Teater this fall break.

A close up of 'Mumbo Jumbo skal på ferie' and a Timelens camera. Enamel tumblers are used to keep markers close at hand.

This camera works just like an traditional disposable camera – snap and go – except this one may be used again and again.

Practical baskets underneath the desk offers easy storage for LEGO and other toys. The red Kevi chair is a vintage find.

On the desk lies a timelens camera as well as a pair of juggling balls. Enamel tumblers in dark green and teal green are used to store colourful markers, while Mimbo Jimbo books are placed in the corner.

Willem's bed is large and made comfortable with pillows. On it, a wool blanket from Klippan, while a shelf to the left is filled with books.

Willem has decorated wall and ceiling with stickers. Explore our selection here.
