5-year-old Madicken's room is located on the second floor in a charming house in Charlottenlund, just north of Copenhagen. Her room has no door, and walls come down half way, creating a very cosy and charming feeling.

In here, a mix of colourful toys, books, posters, vintage objects, a red cube chair, lots of stickers and her mother's beautiful art all adds personality and charm.

Explore Madicken's room, where her parents' love for books, music and art shines through - and where fun, little stickers are allowed everywhere.

A look into Madicken's room from the living room. There is no door to her room, and her space is directly connected to the living room. Also, walls come down half way creating a very cosy feeling in her room.

The book shelf with numerous books from various authors, including Tante Grøn, Tante Brun & Tante Lilla by Elsa Beskow. Below is a Mason Pearson brush in blue.

The space underneath the windows is primarily used for storage. On the bench right under the window is a raffia basket in mint, and on the floor is a large 'Adventure' basket used to store toys. In front of the bed is an Arca stool.

On the table lies a colourful wooden puzzle from Grimm's next to a pair of small storage tins that are used to store crayons.

Above the table hangs a beautiful cat painting by artist Frederikke Mikines, Madicken's mother.

The house, and old half-timbering house, has visible wooden beams that add character throughout the home.

In here, the wooden beams are paired with a homemade ballerina garland, a Mickey Mouse poster and another painting by Frederikke Mikines – this time a colourful horse, which has been placed in a dark frame. Above the bed hangs 'Three Balloons' mobile, and under the bed is a pink raffia basket.

Madicken's bed is made with a patchwork blanket and patchwork pillow, as well as a large Liberty pillow. A soft doll in yellow sits next to 'Dolly the Ragdoll'. Above the bed hangs 'Three Balloons' mobile from Flensted Mobiles.

A large basket under the window stores dress up clothes, and the shelf from Hay is a great storage space for all things toys.

Seen here: An extra small raffia basket, a small guitar, Den Lille Frø and Aykasa storage boxes.

Madicken's parents love music, litterature and art, and this shows in their children's rooms. Here, several small guitars in front of the shelf, and underneath the wall shelf holding books.

"It is not a question whether our things fit together. It is more a question of which memories and feelings our things carry with them – what do they remind of us of? This is how we've decorated our home, and the kids' rooms, too."

– Frederikke, Madicken's mom

Details from the wooden shelf, where books sit side by side. Seen here is a Mason Pearson brush in light blue, fun hair accessories including the dog hair claw and the sleeping cat hair clips.

A duck lamp lights up the whole window area when turned on at night time. Next to the lamp, the book 'Our Seasons', that folds like a globe.
