5-year-old Carl’s room has a modern yet classic vibe. In here, new pieces are effortlessly mixed with older items, most of them coming from his mother’s childhood home.
The space is split into two rooms: One for playing and one for sleeping, and Carl shares both with his younger sister, Franca.
With white walls as a neutral backdrop, toys, furniture, and artwork add colour and stand out, as they so rightfully deserve.
Explore both rooms here, and take inspiration in mixing old and new, bright colours and pastels – and in creating spaces that feel playful, personal and timeless.
The playroom with its wonderfully high ceilings and large windows. In here, old is beautifully mixed with new, creating a modern yet classic vibe.
Seen here: Willy the Wooden Horse in the window sill, a classic drum, and two enamel cups used as storage on the desk for pens and markers.
White shelves from E15 have been hung above the desk and help keep toys, crayons, a Moomin memory game and other small items organized.

A children's classic 'Winnie the Pooh & friends' lies on the desk, which was a hand-me-down from a neighbour.
On the desk sits two enamel cups used for storage, two decks of mini playing cards, and a flower candle holder in pink.
A steel-framed-stool designed by Arne Jacobsen adds contrast to the wooden desk. The lamp in the window sill was bought on a flea market.
“I like to keep walls white and then have toys and things make colourful splashes.”

A shelf placed on the floor keeps books and toys easily within reach.
The couch is from Caroline's, Carl's mom's, childhood home.
Soft pillows on top of two mattresses make for a cosy place to read, play a game of backgammon, or cuddle with the large bunny teddy.
The feather garland was made by hand by Carl's grandmother, and adds a soft touch to the room.
Baskets placed around the room help keep toys and teddies organized, and make tidying up easy once playtime is over. A cabinet from Carl's mother's childhood home stores Carl's clothes, while a wooden kitchen invites hours of play. Find a similar one here.

Musical toys, here stored in a raffia basket. Explore our selection of raffia baskets here. Inside the basket is a guitar and a classic drum.
Carl and Franca sleep together in a separate bedroom. In here, colours are kept calm, light and airy.
Seen here: A large wool rug in light blue adds colour, while a duck lamp is placed by the bed.
A bright blue Joe Colombo trolley is used for storage. On top, 'Der var engang en bjørn' Winnie the Pooh book from Gyldendal.
A snippet of the light blue wool rug is seen on the floor.
A Charlie Chair sits beside the Joe Colombo trolley, matched by the light blue wool rug. A hand-painted artwork by Gitte Brandt, which was a personal gift when Franca was born, hangs on the wall above the chair and table.
